Run a Criminal Records Background Check For Your Personal and Business Safety, the How’s and Why’s

by admin on September 3, 2010

We now live in a world of high physical, financial and emotional risk. You, your family, your assets and business are all highly accessible in this new information age. Why not put this new access to knowledge to your advantage?

My firm has been running people searches and background check history reports, both personal and professional including criminal background checks since before the turn the century. People contact us looking for lost relatives and friends, old lost loves, hopeful wives checking out their suitors, lawyers looking for witnesses or class action suit members, creditors looking for debtors, businessmen checking out potential partners and employee background checks. In most cases, they have exhausted the so called free locate search sites where common names turn up hundreds or thousands of choices nationwide as they don’t have or can’t enter the key identifiers that separate their common named records. How do you separate the records of one John Smith from another?

The only true way to ID one subject from another is through their social security number for which there is no Free search available on the internet as it is not a public record. The other method is through the subject’s date of birth which shows up less than half the time in public records or is incomplete at best. Many similarly named people are born in the same month and year.

Then there are the horror stories on the nightly news telling of Amber Alerts for kidnapped children often by their babysitters or friends who should have been checked out. So search your nanny’s past. Don’t let this happen to your child.

There are also the missing young women who decided to meet a new friend they met online at a dating site in person without checking them out first. It’s really easy enough to do with only a few answers to some inconspicuous questions.

It is possible for a professional to ID most people with just their name and address and sometimes just a phone number from which enough details are obtained to run an accurate background check to verify if they are who they claim to be along with much of their personal history for a relatively small cost. A criminal record search runs deeper and may require on-site county courthouse research. The methods used to locate a possible criminal record will vary dependant upon the states previously resided in. But isn’t it worth the safety of a child being left in the care of a stranger or possible pedophile? A daughter dating an unknown suitor? A business or personal partnership with an unknown entity?

Don’t be fooled by some of the useless dirt cheap nationwide criminal history checks being offered as the only true nationwide database available is run by the FBI and it is only made available to law enforcement for ongoing criminal investigations. Unfortunately, many online firms advertise and promote false cheap leaders that turn up in both pay per click and the generic seemingly more legitimate search engine results and are little more than bait and switch con games. You end up with multiple subjects to guess from to run yet more expensive searches that may or may not end up with the accurately identified information you are attempting to find for use in making a judgment as explained above.

It all goes back to the key identifiers without which there is little chance for success without dealing with a professional who also has access to key, not for free, databases and has the expertise required to run these types of investigations. It is for all the reasons above that most professionals will tell you that the so called Detective sites where you access various databases for $39.95 to run your own background checks are nearly useless.

The bottom line as usual is that you get what you pay for. There’s no free lunch. If it seems too cheap, there’s usually a good reason. Protect yourself, your loved ones and your business interests by running background checks. They are readily available and affordable with many legitimate firms to work with. So play it safe.

There are many other good reasons to run background checks. How about giving your doctor a check up by running a professional doctor background check for possible medical malpractice so you can make a knowledgeable choice BEFORE the operation? Go to http://www.investigateyourdoctor.com
